Quick answer

Pick Adilo if you want in-video CTAs, lead capture, split tests and retargeting pixels working out of the box on a host that never charges for bandwidth, and you go in eyes-open on its storage caps and support record; pick Cloudflare Stream if you want cheap, rock-solid global delivery and live streaming on one API, you are comfortable driving it through code, and you will build the CTAs, lead capture and tracking yourself.

### Pros and cons

#### Adilo

What we like

* The marketing tools are built in, not bolted on. In-video CTAs and buy buttons, lead-capture forms at any timestamp, thumbnail and A/B split tests, and Facebook and Google retargeting pixels all sit inside the player, and most of it works on the free plan. When a clip's whole job is to sell, that is the right feature set out of the box.
* Unlimited bandwidth and plays on every plan, including free. Adilo bills on how much storage you use, not on how many people watch, so a clip that takes off does not hand you a surprise overage bill. Among hosts that meter bandwidth, that is a real difference.
* Content security most cheap hosts do not offer. Multi-DRM encryption, personalized dynamic watermarks, domain whitelisting, geo-blocking and IP licensing are there for course sellers and premium-content owners who need to stop downloads and sharing.
* Fast, light player and a clean dashboard. Reviewers single out load speed and an interface non-technical users set up quickly, and there is a free-forever tier with no card to try it.

The catch

* The word unlimited has a history of getting capped. Buyers who were sold unlimited storage, including lifetime-deal holders, report being told a limit now applies, with an upgrade-or-lose-your-videos deadline. Unlimited on Adilo has meant bandwidth and plays, not storage, so treat storage as the thing you are really buying.
* Support and refunds are the weak point. The recurring critical theme is slow or unresponsive support and disputed refunds, usually tangled up with billing and the plan changes. Day-to-day use is fine for most; it is the escalations and money disputes that go badly.
* It is a host with marketing tools, not a conversion-first sales player. There is no retention curve split by buyers versus non-buyers and no cart-verified sale posted back to the ad platforms. The retargeting pixel fires on watch time, but tying one specific play to a confirmed sale is not something Adilo does.
* The current price is hard to see before you sign up. The public pricing page hides the Unlimited figure behind a storage picker, and the tiered plans older reviews describe have changed, so you have to create an account to learn what you will actually pay.

#### Cloudflare Stream

What we like

* Genuinely cheap and simple to reason about. Two dimensions only: $5 per 1,000 minutes stored and $1 per 1,000 minutes delivered, with encoding, upload and bandwidth included. No seats, no tiers, no separate egress bill. Developers on Hacker News call it an honest paid platform.
* The reliability and reach of Cloudflare's own network. Stream runs on the same infrastructure that moves a big share of the world's web traffic, so playback holds up globally and under load without you managing a CDN.
* One API from upload to playback, for on-demand and live. RTMP and SRT ingest, automatic adaptive-bitrate HLS and DASH output, a built-in player or your own. A developer can wire video into a product in an afternoon.
* No surprise bandwidth math. Delivery is billed per minute watched, not per gigabyte, so a large file costs no more to serve than a short one of the same length.

The catch

* It is infrastructure, not a selling tool. There are no in-video CTAs, no lead-capture forms, no split tests, and no analytics that tie a play to a sale. Everything that makes the clip actually sell, you build or bolt on yourself.
* The per-delivered-minute model bites the exact content this audience runs. A talking-head VSL or evergreen webinar at low bitrate costs the same per delivered minute as 4K, so a cheap-to-produce clip with a big audience can get disproportionately expensive. Do the math for your view count before you commit.
* Content protection is do-it-yourself. Stream uses signed URLs and token auth, not studio DRM like Widevine or FairPlay. Forum users report shared signed links get passed to third-party players, and setting the keys up trips people up. Fine for casual gating, thin for premium course video.
* No free tier for Stream itself, and it assumes you can code. Once you store a video you buy at least one $5 storage block, there is no drag-and-drop marketing dashboard, and the whole product is built to be driven by an API. A non-technical seller will feel that.

### The real split: a marketing host against raw delivery

Both host your video, hand you an embed and stream it worldwide, which is why they land on the same shortlist. What each was built around could not be more different. Adilo, from BigCommand, is a marketing host: the video's job is to convert traffic, so it leads with thumbnail and player A/B split tests, Facebook and Google retargeting pixels, lead-capture forms you can drop at any timestamp, and in-video calls to action, most of it live on the free plan, on a host that never charges for bandwidth. Cloudflare Stream is developer infrastructure. You drive it through an API, it encodes and delivers on the world's largest network, and everything above the raw video, the selling, the tracking, the dashboard a marketer would use, you build yourself.

That difference decides most of what follows. If the video's job is to turn traffic into leads and buyers, Adilo ships that layer and Cloudflare ships none of it. If the video's job is to be delivered cheaply and reliably at scale, and you have a developer to wire up the rest, Cloudflare is built for exactly that and Adilo is not trying to compete. Ask who maintains the video and whether the clip has to sell on its own, and the pair usually sorts itself. Neither, we should say up front, ties a play to a cart-verified sale, which is a separate job we come back to below.

### Where they actually differ

**What comes in the box.** Adilo leads with conversion tooling: thumbnail and player A/B split tests, retargeting pixels, timestamped lead forms, in-video CTAs and buy buttons, a screen and camera recorder and AI captions, most of it working on the free plan. Cloudflare Stream gives you resumable upload, automatic adaptive-bitrate encoding, HLS and DASH output, a customizable built-in player or your own, and live streaming over RTMP and SRT, all through one clean API. What it does not give you is any selling layer at all. No CTA on the timeline, no lead form, no split test, no marketing dashboard. For a marketer that gap is the whole story; for a developer building video into a product, the bare API is the appeal.

**Who has to run it.** Adilo is built for a non-technical marketer: you upload, set your CTAs and forms in a dashboard, and paste an embed. Cloudflare assumes you can code. There is no drag-and-drop marketing interface, the product is meant to be driven by an API, and even basic access control is set up with signed URLs and tokens. If nobody on your side writes code, that is not a small caveat, it is the difference between shipping this week and not shipping at all.

**What you pay for, and how.** The two meter usage on opposite axes. Adilo gives unlimited bandwidth and plays on every plan, including free, and bills on how much storage you use instead, so a clip that takes off never returns a delivery bill. Cloudflare charges $5 per 1,000 minutes stored and $1 per 1,000 minutes delivered, with encoding and bandwidth included, a flat and legible per-minute price. The catch for this audience is that the per-minute meter ignores bitrate: a 480p talking-head VSL costs the same per delivered minute as a 4K film. That is the exact profile most marketing video fits, light files watched by a large audience, and it is where Adilo's unlimited bandwidth is far cheaper. The full worked example is in the pricing section below.

**Protecting the video.** Both protect content, in different registers. Adilo carries multi-DRM, dynamic watermarking sold as a paid add-on, domain whitelisting, geo-blocking and IP licensing, aimed at stopping downloads and screen recording of premium content. Cloudflare relies on signed URLs and token authentication, not studio DRM like Widevine or FairPlay, and forum users report that shared signed links get handed to third-party players. For a paid course or premium asset that genuinely must not leak, Adilo's DRM stack is the more aggressive base and Cloudflare will have you building more of the protection yourself.

**Reliability and reach.** Here the advantage flips to Cloudflare. Stream runs on the same infrastructure that carries a large share of the world's web traffic, so playback holds up globally and under load without you managing a CDN, and developers on Hacker News call it an honest, well-run paid platform, if a touch expensive for on-demand. Adilo holds a strong Capterra score, around 4.8 across roughly 740 reviews, many of them seller-invited, and reviewers praise its load speed and clean dashboard, but its recurring critical theme is slow or unresponsive support and disputed refunds, usually tangled up with billing. Whichever you pick, keep your master files and test playback where your buyers actually are before you commit.

**The word unlimited.** Adilo's headline is unlimited bandwidth, and that part is real, but unlimited has a history here. Buyers sold unlimited storage, including lifetime-deal holders, report being told a storage cap now applies with an upgrade-or-lose deadline. Unlimited on Adilo has meant bandwidth and plays, not storage, so read storage as the resource you are actually buying and get your limit in writing. Cloudflare has no equivalent surprise, but it caps nothing and meters what you deliver, so the trade there is a per-minute bill that can move rather than a limit that can change.

**Selling features, and the thing to be clear about.** Adilo is built to make a video convert traffic: A/B tests on thumbnails and the player, lead forms at any point in the timeline, and a retargeting pixel that fires on watch time. Cloudflare does none of it, by design. But it is worth being precise about the ceiling on both. Neither carries a per-second retention curve split by buyers and non-buyers, neither runs split tests decided on sales, and neither ties a play to a cart-verified sale or fires that confirmed sale back to the ad platforms server-side. Firing a pixel on watch time is retargeting; it is not revenue attribution, and that is a different job again.

### If the video's job is a direct-response sale: TrackPlay

There is a third situation neither of these was built for. If your video is a VSL running on cold paid traffic, and the only number that matters is whether the play produced a sale, TrackPlay is aimed straight at that job. Adilo can fire a retargeting pixel on watch time; Cloudflare confirms the file was delivered. TrackPlay hosts the video behind one embed and ties every second watched to who actually bought, then posts the cart-verified sale back to Meta, TikTok and GA4 server-side, onto the play that earned it, from direct-response carts like ClickBank, ClickFunnels and Digistore24\. It is built to tell you which ad, which play and which cut of the video produced revenue, a different job from converting traffic into a lead or moving bytes.

It backs that with a player made for cold traffic: sound-first autoplay, timed CTA cards and watch gates. Retention is drawn per second and split into buyers versus non-buyers with the pitch moment marked, and split tests are decided on real sales with statistical significance rather than on views, run under one embed so ad links and campaign learning never reset. Billing is on plays, not bandwidth or minutes, every feature ships on every paid plan from $29 a month, and there is a no-card free plan of 1,000 plays a month, watermarked, plus a 14-day trial of the paid features.

The catch is real, and it is the flip side of that focus. TrackPlay is narrow by design: built for paid-traffic VSL conversion, it is not a general video host or a B2B content library, so it has none of the channels, SEO pages or webinar tooling of a Wistia, and none of Adilo's unlimited-bandwidth library hosting or Cloudflare's raw delivery scale. If you are hosting a large public media library at the lowest cost, protecting a course, or building video into a product through an API, Adilo or Cloudflare is the right home and TrackPlay is not for that work. It is also a very new product with thin outside proof: the testimonials are on its own site, there is little third-party review footprint yet, and signup is currently invite-only, which is what you would expect of a platform this recent. Weigh it when the sale, not the view, is the goal.

### Which one for you

**Choose Adilo** if the video's job is to convert traffic and you want the marketing tools out of the box: thumbnail and player A/B tests, retargeting pixels and lead capture at any timestamp, in-video CTAs, and content security through multi-DRM and dynamic watermarks, on a host that never charges for bandwidth no matter how many people watch, with a free plan to start. Go in reading storage as the metered resource, and go in eyes-open on the support and refund record, because that is where the complaints cluster.

**Choose Cloudflare Stream** if you want cheap, dependable global delivery and live streaming on one API, you are comfortable driving it through code, and you will build the CTAs, lead capture and tracking yourself. It suits high-bitrate content, live at scale, and teams already inside the Cloudflare ecosystem. Do the per-minute math against your view count first, because for light files served to a big audience it adds up fast, and remember it will not sell the video for you.

**Choose TrackPlay** if the video is a VSL on paid traffic and you are measured on sales: you want the play tied to the cart and the conversion fired back to the ad platforms, not a retargeting pixel or a delivery log.

### Pricing, compared

The two bill on completely different axes, and that is most of the decision. Adilo meters storage and gives bandwidth away; Cloudflare Stream meters minutes stored and minutes watched.

**Adilo** runs a free-forever plan with unlimited bandwidth and plays and a storage allowance, then a storage-priced Unlimited plan above it. The number to watch is storage, because bandwidth and plays are never metered. One frustration is that the public pricing page hides the paid figure behind a storage picker, so you have to create an account to learn what you will actually pay, and the tiered prices older reviews quote have changed. Confirm your storage limit in writing before you move a library across, given the recapping some buyers have reported.

**Cloudflare Stream** has no free tier for Stream itself and meters two dimensions only. Storage is $5 per 1,000 minutes of video held per month, prepaid, so once you store anything you are buying at least one $5 block. Delivery is $1 per 1,000 minutes watched, post-paid, with encoding, ingest and bandwidth all included and no separate egress line.

Put a number on it. Take a 45-minute VSL at about 480p, roughly a 0.4 GB file, and 10,000 people who watch it in full. On Adilo that is a few gigabytes of storage and not one cent of delivery, because bandwidth is unlimited, so your bill is whatever storage tier holds your library. On Cloudflare that is 45 minutes stored, one $5 block, plus 450,000 delivered minutes at $1 per 1,000, so roughly $450 for the same views. Your real figures move with watch-through and file size, but the ratio holds: the per-minute model charges the same for a light file as for a heavy one, and light files served to a big audience are what this audience runs. Move to high-bitrate 4K or a small, private audience and the gap narrows, because then you are either paying Adilo for a lot of storage or delivering few Cloudflare minutes. If the video is a paid-traffic VSL, note that TrackPlay bills on plays from $29 a month with every feature included, a different axis again, because you are paying for conversion tooling rather than raw hosting.

### Frequently asked questions

Which is cheaper, Adilo or Cloudflare Stream?

It depends on your content and how it is watched. Adilo gives unlimited bandwidth and plays on every plan, including free, and meters storage instead, so a clip watched by a large audience never runs up a delivery bill; the paid figure is hidden behind a storage picker until you sign up. Cloudflare bills per minute delivered regardless of bitrate, at $1 per 1,000 delivered minutes plus $5 per 1,000 minutes stored. Because the per-minute meter ignores file size, a low-bitrate VSL watched by a big audience costs far more on Cloudflare than on Adilo. Cloudflare only closes the gap on high-bitrate content or a small private audience, where its real advantage is a flat, predictable price rather than a lower one.

Does Adilo really give unlimited bandwidth?

Yes. Bandwidth and plays are unlimited on every Adilo plan, including the free one, and it bills on how much storage you use instead. The catch is that the word unlimited has a history on Adilo: buyers who were sold unlimited storage, including lifetime-deal holders, report being told a storage cap now applies, with an upgrade-or-lose deadline. Unlimited has meant bandwidth and plays, not storage, so confirm your storage limit in writing before you move a library across.

Does either one have in-video CTAs, lead capture or split tests?

Adilo does all three: in-video CTAs and buy buttons, lead-capture forms at any timestamp, thumbnail and player A/B split tests, and Facebook and Google retargeting pixels, most of it on the free plan. Cloudflare Stream has none of it. It is raw video infrastructure, so there are no CTAs, no forms, no split tests and no analytics that tie a play to a sale; you build the entire selling layer yourself around the embed. Neither posts a cart-verified sale back to the ad platforms server-side; that is what a direct-response tool like TrackPlay is built for.

Which is better for a VSL on paid traffic?

Neither, on its own. Both host and deliver the video, and Adilo can even fire a retargeting pixel on watch time, but neither ties a play to the cart-verified sale or fires that confirmed sale back to Meta, TikTok or GA4 server-side. If the video is a VSL and you are measured on sales rather than views, a purpose-built player like TrackPlay fits that job; use Adilo for the marketing tooling or Cloudflare for the delivery underneath it.
